Happy holidays friends and family! Hope you had a good one spending time with loved ones, no matter where you are or what you celebrate!<\/p>\n<p>After 16 years of writing about food, you&#8217;d think I could at least get some recipes out before the actual\u00a0event, but no, I just get too busy! I did do things different this Christmas and I want to share my revelation even though it&#8217;s after the fact.<\/p>\n<p>I finally created a\u00a0feast I could make the day before the event so I could spend more time with family and friends instead of running around like a headless chicken cooking everything <em>\u00e0 la minute<\/em>. This\u00a0year I just pulled\u00a0platters\u00a0out of my fridge, plopped them on\u00a0the buffet table and reheated the foods that needed to be hot. It was wonderful! Glorious in fact! desserts for a crowd \u2013 anywhere from 15 to 30 people. I tent my backyard and decorate to the max and honestly, it&#8217;s just exhausting to prepare. The end result is always beautiful but it takes a physical and emotional toll on the whole family. By the time the actual celebration arrives, we can&#8217;t enjoy it because we&#8217;re tired. Maybe when we&#8217;re out of the toddler era and sleeping normally we&#8217;ll enjoy setting up\u00a0that kind of party again.<\/p>\n<p>Since I&#8217;m very pregnant and <em>very<\/em> uncomfortable and I also have a toddler running around, I decided to simplify things this year. And you know what? I think this was one of my best holiday menus yet! I did zero actual cooking on Christmas day which left a lot more time to enjoy our yearly White Elephant party and lounge around.
