Glad it worked out for you! I think the picture for this post needs a big dollop of whipped cream to go along side. You just can’t eat this pie without it!

Just made this with sugar pie pumpkin and it was so much easier than I expected. I roasted the pumpkin first, then made the pie crust and rolled it out to fit the pie tins. I froze those and by the time I finished all the pie prep the pumpkin was ready to be mashed.

I can’t say that making pumpkin pie from scratch was that much more time consuming or difficult than from the can and I was suprised at how forgiving the recipe.

The flavor was of course AMAZING!

Oh my goodness. What kind of gigantic pumpkin is staring at you? Do you know? Because not all carving pumpkins make great pie. I’ll expect a full report back!

What a timely post! I’m obviously not doing Thanksgiving today like you are (seeing as Thanksgiving up north happened back last month) but I’ve still got 6+ kilos of unprocessed giant pumpkin staring at me.

And it’s great that you also supply a crust recipe in the pecan pie post.
