Alone, on the phone with my boss, in front of my boss…and today she still sees me as strong willed and tough.

As long as you know you did nothing wrong- you’re allowed to be thirsty- and that every guy in that kitchen has probably done something much worse before.
Keep up the great kitchen stories, your blog becomes more wonderful daily.

Set your standard where you think it should be and don’t feel pressured by the mind games they are playing there. The more you react to their pressures, the more they lay it on thick. Don’t forget that they all had to start too. Mirror the aggressiveness they give you and watch them back off.

Just keep up the good work. I know what it’s like to work in an environment where the guy in charge is always looking for what you did wrong rather than praising you for what you did right. Just keep your chin up and before you know it, you will be fluent in French, be a fabulous chef, and have your choice of where you want to work.
